Get Out: What To Do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

Pint-sized artists, charity garage sales, art markets, photography shows and shake-shake-shakin' yer heart-shaped bootie.

TOP OF THE WORLD ARTS NIGHT
WHERE/WHEN: Top of the World Elementary School, 21601 Treetop Ln. Friday, 6-9 p.m.
WHY GO? The opening of the Dolphin Gallery, only the most exclusive art space in Laguna Beach! So exclusive that it'll open for just this one night only, because—get this—the artists (600 of them) will need to be taken home and put to bed. The show features one visual arts piece created by every student in the school. Background music will be provided by TOW student instrumentalists, playing acoustic recital-quality pieces. And there will be a hands-on art sample station with simple projects to occupy younger siblings.
PRICE: Free to browse.

GLENNWOOD HOUSE GARAGE SALE
WHERE/WHEN: 375 Heather Place. Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
WHY GO? It's a garage sale to benefit Glennwood House, a planned home for developmentally disabled young adults on Coast Hwy. Estate-sale-quality items will be available for purchase, meaning that if you're desperately searching here for someone's paper clip collection, you should probably keep hunting. Call 949-497-2086 for more info.
PRICE: Free to browse.

LOCAL ARTISTS VALENTINE SALE
WHERE/WHEN: The Tides Inn, 460 N. Coast Hwy. Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
WHY GO? Shop for your loved one now so you don't have to running around last-minute style come Feb. 14. Local artists like Muffin Spencer-Devlin, Michele Taylor, Dennis Myers and Dennis McTighe will be selling their handiwork by the hotel pool. Pick up a painting, some new jewelry, a ceramic vase or a new ensemble. For more info, call 949-494-2494.
PRICE: Free to browse.

RECEPTION FOR PHOTOGRAPHER NICK CARVER
WHERE/WHEN: Artist Eye Laguna Gallery, 1294-A S. Coast Hwy. Saturday, 6-9 p.m.
WHY GO? Irvine-based landscape shooter Carver was trained to get the image right in-camera and at the moment he clicked the shutter—a mentality that has stayed with him into the digital realm. He does not manipulate or alter photos beyond what he could have done with a single piece of transparency film. For more info, click here.
PRICE: Free.

VALENTINE'S SWING DANCE
WHERE/WHEN: Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Anns Dr. Sunday, 2-5 p.m.
WHY GO? It's a swingers party! Uh, no ... not that kind of swinging. This is swing dancing, and if you don't know how, then come and learn, with dance instructor Alec Marken on hand to teach you some basic moves (no partner needed!) whilst shimmying to the tunes of Bill Foster's 16-piece South Coast Swing Band. This event also doubles as a fundraiser for NCC and the Unitarian Universal Fellowship of Laguna Beach. For tickets, call 940-494-8061 or 949-497-4568.
PRICE: $10-$15.
