VILLAGE LAGUNA'S VILLAGER OF THE YEAR

Village Laguna will honor the Reverend Colin Henderson and former City Council member, Verna Rollinger, on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bluebird Canyon garden of Bill and Lynda Sharp.



Henderson, a resident since '85, prevously served as an Anglican priest in England. Here, he established what has become the Friendship Shelter, a temporary shelter with services for homeless people that has benefited more than 6,000 people over the last twenty years.



Rollinger, the town's elected city clerk for more than three decades, created a climate of accesibility and openness during her tenure. She was a founding member of the Friendship Shelter. On the City Council, she played a role in representing neighborhood-compatible development and advocating for park protection, a marine reserve, water quaality standards and preservation of significant trees.
