Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign

Funds raised will help support kids who attend the Clubs' summer camps and after-school programs.

Story submitted by the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach:

The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach kicked off its annual “It Just Takes One” campaign last month with a call for support from the community.  The campaign will raise funds for the Clubs’ after-school programs and services for youth, ages 3-18, living in Laguna Beach and surrounding areas.

The campaign’s goal this year is to raise $200,000 for the Club’s annual operating budget.  They are proud to announce that to date; the campaign has raised $150,000 and that 100 percent of their board members and staff are contributing to the campaign. They are asking for community support to help make a difference in children’s lives.

“The impact our Boys & Girls Club is having on the community is growing.” said Pamela Estes, Executive Director. “We know that every child can benefit from the positive influence and guidance consistently found at our Clubs. Last year, we served over 1,500 kids and this year more children attended our Club each day than ever before. With only about 1/3 of our $1.8 million budget brought in from fees and our commitment to never turning a child away due to financial circumstances, community support is crucial to serving those families who need us most. We are very grateful to have so many caring people in our community who understand that by investing in young people’s lives, the future will be brighter for us all.”

Funds raised will help support kids who attend the Clubs summer camps and quality after school programs such as Power Hour homework help, computer skills training, career exploration, arts and crafts, fitness and sports, and character and leadership programs such as SMART Moves (a prevention program) and Youth of the Year (the Club’s premier recognition program).
