Hey Laguna Beach, Glennwood House Needs Your Help ...

The independent living home for 50 young adults with developmental disabilities hopes to raise $350,000 by the end of May.

Submitted by Glennwood House:

Renovation construction is progressing rapidly on this independent living home for 50 young adults with developmental disabilities.  We plan to open around mid-year.  But we need your help to get over the final hump.

First, we send a huge thank you to the people of Laguna Beach, the local media, and the city government for their support over the past two years.  Glennwood Housing Foundation is a nonprofit that is unique to Laguna Beach and the State of California.

Second, if you have been by the facility on the corner of Ruby and South Coast Highway recently, you will have seen the extensive renovations currently underway by Trivest Builders.  They are making incredible progress, not only for the beautification of the building, but also for many unforeseen but much needed repairs.  A recent highlight has been the newly painted mural by Wyland.

This will be a truly one-of-a-kind facility, exemplifying Laguna Beach's openness to diversity and acceptance, as we open doors to the residential future for 50 young adults with special needs.

We have raised nearly $1,000,000 already for construction, but we need $350,000 more to complete the entire renovation by the end of May.  We are asking the residents of Laguna Beach to step up in meeting our final goal of getting the building renovation done and everyone moved in by June.

Please help us make this dream come true for the 50 young adults.  They are anxiously awaiting a place of their own:  a place where they will flourish in friendship with one another and be in community with all of Laguna Beach.

Glennwood House of Laguna Beach will be a gem in the field developmental disabilities whose program will serve as a model for other communities throughout the nation in meeting the rising need for housing for our special citizens.  Let’s make history together Laguna!

So, please help in the final leg of this marathon, Laguna.  Our wonderful community will be all the richer for it.  Whether you make a tax-deductible donation of $100, $1,000, or $100,000; if we can count on your help in this groundbreaking modern concept we will be able open on time, by this summer.  And please come visit us and see this amazing facility for yourself.  Thank you.
