The scene was bittersweet. Parents and their children were hugging goodbye on the first day of school for kindergarteners at Top of the World elementary school Wednesday morning.
Dennis Dahle brought his son Nils Dahle to class.
Mr. Dahle said, "I'm excited for him. He's ready. His sister goes to school here, so he's excited."
After dressing himself for kindergarten, Holden Brown asked his mom, "Is my teacher going to like this?" Brown donned a dark fedora and buttoned-down long-sleeved pinstripe oxford.
Top of the World Principal and Ron Lamotte and TOTW speech and language specialist Tracey Slater were chatting outside the kindergarten grounds.
Lamotte said, "It just takes me back to my son's first day and my daughter's first day. It's just a special time."
