Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest Winners Lauded at Susi Q

The Laguna Bluebelt Coalition and the Susie Q Senior Center embarked on a first-time collaboration on Wednesday, July 31.  They joined forces to mount an exhibit, “Another Day in Paradise,” celebrating the winners of the Bluebelt photo contest.  It was a festive event, with food, wine, and raffles which included one of John Barber’s iconic glass sea stars.

Over 100 community members and guests attended the celebration, organized by Charlotte Masarik and Jinger Wallace of the Bluebelt and Judy Baker, Arts Director of the Susie Q.  Many of the artists were present, and at least four photographs were sold during the reception.

The photos, which focus on Laguna coastal scenes, tide pools, and underwater landscapes. will remain on display through September 6th. Nadia Babayi, Executive Director of the Susie Q commented:  “We appreciate the work of the Bluebelt Coalition in protecting [and] restoring the marine life and look forward to continuing our partnership."
