Laguna Canyon Foundation Names New Executive Director

Laguna Beach native Hallie Jones comes to the Laguna Canyon Foundation from Heal the Bay.

Laguna Canyon Foundation has named a new executive director, the organization announced Tuesday.

Hallie Jones, who was born and raised in Laguna Canyon, is stepping up into the position previously held by Max Borella, who accepted a position at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. Jones comes to Laguna Canyon Foundation with more than 12 years experience in non-profit management, with a specific expertise in communications and outreach.

“The canyon has always been home to me, and I’m so honored to be a part of Laguna Canyon Foundation," Jones said. "I’m looking forward to sharing my passion for this incredible landscape with the community that I love.”

Foundation officials said the passion for open space and the Laguna area ecosystem that Jones has, coupled with her experience in environmental non-profit operations makes her "a natural fit," for the position/

“We’re so grateful for Max’s leadership over the last three years," Derek Ostensen, president of the Laguna Canyon Foundation, said. “But I’m confident that we’ll continue his great progress with Hallie on board.”

Hallie comes to the Laguna Canyon Foundation from Heal the Bay in Santa Monica.
