Off-Key Celebs Parody Xmas Tune to Encourage Mammograms

The song features a quiz show host, pro athletes, a reality-show star, a beauty queen and media personalities to benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation.

It's not often you hear Christmas music converted into an ode to mammograms.

But this holiday season, the Orange County affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure created a parody of Winter Wonderland to raise funds for breast exams and enlisted local celebrities to sing it.

Thirteen personalities -- known for various talents (but not singing) -- offered their time and voices to the cause. They include:

  • Vanna White: Co-host of Wheel of Fortune
  • Steve Churm: Orange County Publishing Trailblazer/CEO, Churm Media
  • Ed Arnold: TV newsman, co-host of PBS SoCal’s Real Orange
  • Peggy Tanous: former star of Real Housewives of Orange County
  • Corky Carroll: world’s first professional surfer
  • Bruno Serato: Award-winning restaurateur, Anaheim White House
  • Leah Cecil: Miss California 2012
  • Shawn Parr: Country-radio personality
  • Kurt Rambis: NBA champion and ESPN analyst
  • Jay Johnstone: baseball player
  • Mildred Garcia: President, Cal State Fullerton
  • Hans Stolfus: volleyball champion and silver medalist
  • Laura Ratto: National Volleyball League

The video aims to help Komen Orange County achieve a year-end goal to fund more mammograms for underinsured women and men. To donate or get more information, visit komenoc.org or call 714-957-9157.

Lyrics (to the tune of Winter Wonderland):

There’s a need, are you listening?
A campaign we are christening
Together we’ll fight
To make things all right
Funding Orange County mammograms.

With your help, we’ll be grinning
Keepin’ more people winning
Detection’s the key
When it’s early
Funding Orange County mammograms.

Closing in on where we need to get to
Makin’ progress each and every day
But there’s still a need for us to ask you
To help us reach our goal without delay

Your support is the reason
Komen’s thankful this season
When lives are at stake
A difference we’ll make
Funding Orange County mammograms.
