Pair Arrested in Connection With Laguna Beach Home Invasion Robbery

News release from the Laguna Beach Police Department:

Yesterday afternoon (Monday), Laguna Beach Detectives, with assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department, arrested two men for armed robbery.  They were taken into custody at separate locations in South Los Angeles and transported to Orange County Jail for booking.    

Incident:

On October 13, 2012, at 10:30 pm, unknown assailants burst into a Laguna Beach home and brutalized the occupants by pistol whipping them.  After terrorizing the group, the suspects stole a significant amount of jewelry and were last seen running towards a nearby shopping center.

Investigation:

Detectives were called to the scene and had very limited information to work with.  The incident appeared to be random and there were no immediate connections between the victims and suspects.

In November of 2012, a Laguna Beach Detective developed a lead which pointed towards an extremely violent South Los Angeles gang (Bounty Hunter Bloods) who are based out of the Nickerson Gardens housing development.  This detective met with LAPD gang officers and conducted surveillances on members of the gang.

During the service of an LAPD narcotics search warrant, one of the Bounty Hunter Bloods was found to be in possession of a cell phone stolen during the robbery.  This break led to the identification of the two primary suspects.   

The case culminated with the issuance of two arrest warrants last Friday.  The warrants were each $500,000 and allege robbery, residential burglary, false imprisonment, use of a firearm during a robbery, and gang enhancements. 

Since this case involves a Los Angeles street gang, with an active gang injunction, LAPD investigators will be involved in the prosecution to offer expert testimony.

Arrested Individuals:

1)    Tyrone Lamont Beasley, a 21 year old resident of Los Angeles.  Beasley was arrested at a South Los Angeles home.

2)    Jyvontaye Demetric Harris, a 20 year old resident of Los Angeles.  Harris was arrested at Compton Court where he was attending a pre-trial hearing on a separate case for possessing a loaded firearm in public.
