Patriots Day Parade Honorees Announced

Laguna Beach High alum Jason Ehret, a U.S. Navy Seal, will be the grand marshal of the March 2 parade. Deadline for parade entries is January 11.

The honorees for this year's Patriots Day Parade have been announced. They are:

  • Grand Marshal: Capt. Jason Ehret, U.S. Navy Seals and a 1984 graduate of Laguna Beach High
  • Honored Patriot: Joseph A. Pursch, M.D., a 20-year U.S. Navy veteran
  • Citizens of the Year: Bonnie and Arnold Hano, longtime community activists
  • Athlete of the Year: Drake Martinez, star player of the Laguna Beach High football team
  • Artist of the Year: Pageant of the Masters, celebrating their 80th birthday this year
  • Junior Citizens of the Year: Michelle Elizabeth Brown and Brock Csira, both Laguna Beach High seniors

Honorees will be feted at a special brunch on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 11:30 a.m. on the Festival of Arts grounds (Tivoli Terrace). The public is invited to attend at $25 per person. For further information and reservations, contact Sandi Werthe at 949-494-6016 or email shworthy@juno.com.

The annual parade—the 47th edition—will be held Saturday, March 2, with the theme of "All Together Now." Deadline for entries is coming up quick—Friday, January 11—so if you're interested in being in the parade, contact Sandi Werthe at the above phone or email.
