Patriots Day Parade Names Citizen of the Year

A longtime community volunteer and former city councilman has been chosen at the 48th Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade's "Citizen of the Year," officials announced.

Wayne Baglin, a resident since 1969, served as president of the Festival of Arts Board of Directors, was a Laguna Canyon Foundation board member and vice president of the Laguna Beach County Water District. Baglin will be honored as "Citizen of the Year" during the parade on March 1, 2014.

According to parade organizers, Laguna Beach High School staff chose Penny Nielson and Garrett Burk, members of the Class of 2014, as the 2014 Junior Citizens of the Year.

Baglin, Nielson, Burk and their fellow parade honorees will be featured at the Honorees Fundraiser Brunch' at Tivoli Terrace on Sunday, Feb. 2.
