Patriots Day Parade Names More Honorees

The 48th Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 1.

The 48th Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade has announced several honorees for the 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1 parade.

"Artist of the Year" is Carol Reynolds, founder of the Laguna Beach Community Band.  A French horn player and retired music teacher, Carol is a community volunteer who has served on several City arts boards, as well as being a charter member of Laguna Beach Sister Cities Association.

"Athletes of the Year" are world champion surfers and local residents Ian Cairns and Alisa Schwarzstein Cairns.  Ian, a native of Australia, was named to the Huntington Beach Surfers Hall of Fame in 2010.  Alisa, a Laguna Beach High School graduate and mother of twin boys, was the 1980 women's world amateur champion and has coached our high school surf team.

"Carol Reynolds, Alisa and Ian Cairns and their fellow parade honorees will be featured at the Parade's Sunday, February 2 'Honorees Fundraiser Brunch' at Tivoli Terrace from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

"The all-volunteer parade, with the theme 'Home of the Free because of the Brave', is supported by the Honorees Brunch, as well as parade program ads and donations.
