Photo Contest to Celebrate New Marine Protection Areas

Laguna has a lot to celebrate this New Year, especially the new Laguna Bluebelt which is comprised of marine protected areas (MPAs) aimed at restoring our sea life.

Enter Your Photos of the Laguna Bluebelt and win Dinner for Two at

The Laguna Bluebelt Coalition is commemorating this important event with a special photo contest and will announce the winning photos on Underwater Parks Day, January 21st. Photos will also be posted on the Laguna Bluebelt website.

Upload your photo taken within one of Laguna’s MPAs between January 1-15 to info@lagunabluebelt.org. The details are posted on the Laguna Bluebelt website here and will be updated with new categories and more prizes. (We now have a certificate for a free kayak tour for two from La Vida Laguna). More items to follow.

It's easy to participate, and the winner will receive a dinner for two at French 75. Photos can be of any subject that stirs you - your family & friends enjoying the beach, the tide pools or ocean, the bird or marine life that depend on it, just any part of this special place.

Send your photo (one per person) with its location and date to info@lagunablubelt.org before January 15.

Studies show community support is vital to the success of our marine reserves. The Bluebelt is committed to helping educate and encourage protection of our new reserves.
