Laguna Beach Marks World AIDS Day This Saturday

Red ribbons tied on trees around town memorialize Laguna Beach residents who have died from the disease.

Small groups of people took to downtown Laguna Beach streets on Tuesday afternoon, tying 300 red ribbons around trees to memorialize AIDS victims.

The action is in advance of Saturday's annual World AIDS Day observation at Main Beach, when a reading of names of Laguna Beach residents who have died from the disease will take place.

There will also be free and confidential HIV testing at the Saturday event from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (with results available in about 20 minutes), as well as a display of several panels from the Orange County AIDS quilt, health information booths, and, when night falls, a candlelight vigil.
