Storm Runoff Causes Unhealthy Water Conditions in Laguna Beach

The Orange County Health Care Agency has issued a rain advisory in effect across local beaches where recent storm runoff has caused unhealthy bacteria levels that may cause illness.

In Laguna Beach, sample results from two days ago show more than a dozen locations such as Emerald Bay and Aliso Beach where bacteria levels exceeded state health standards.

Authorities advise swimmers and surfers to stay away from storm drains, creeks and rivers where the possibility that bacteria or chemical from debris from storm runoff may contaminate the water.

Further rain could cause the advisory to be extended past Saturday.
