Laguna Beach has such a weird, colorful history that it's almost criminal we're not the UFO capital of Orange County. No, that title goes to Laguna Niguel. Seriously.
But maybe space aliens are finally realizing what an awesome place Laguna Beach is. And, judging by what happened Thursday night, maybe they're starting to hang out here more often.
Several people reported seeing strange lights in the sky above Laguna Beach on Thursday night, Aug. 23, according to the site ufostalker.com, which is pretty much the go-to source for people to report strange goings-on overhead.
"I was on my deck patio, in north Laguna Beach, covering my BBQ at around 9 p.m.," begins one of the reports by someone who's apparently anonymous. "I was facing south when I noticed 6 or 7 bright glowing red lights in the sky, about 45 degrees above the horizon, above or just south of Laguna Beach. The lights were glowing red/orange like fire. They did not appear to be solid, crisp structures. They were steadily moving northbound and maintained their altitude."
You can read the rest of the report at the link above. But this wasn't the only sighting Thursday. "Danny," who says he works at Katsuya on Coast Highway, apparently saw the same thing, and posted a response.
"I was taking a quick break outside with (a) few cooks and we saw those lights in the sky glowing red for 45 seconds then the(y) moved so fast and dissapered (sic) out (of) sight. Super stealth and didn't even make a sound. This is my 1st sighting. Now I'm a believer."
Someone also snapped a photo of the mysterious lights and posted it to another site, mufon.com. Another eyewitness, "Joe," managed to shoot video of the lights and posted it to YouTube, which you can watch by clicking the YouTube icon in the box on the above-right.
So, Laguna Beach, did you see the strange lights in the sky Thursday? And if you did, what do you think they were? Let us know in the comments box below ...
