WWII Pilot Named Parade's Patriot of the Year

A former United States Army Air Corps World War II pilot will be honored as Patriot of the Year during the 48th annual Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade, event officials announced.

The parade, themed "Home of the Free Because of the Brave," will take place on March 1. Honored Patriot of the Year Robert R. Mosier was nominated by the Laguna Beach American Legion Post 222.

Mosier flew the first troops into Tokyo after the Japanese surrender. He has lived in Laguna Beach with his wife, Beverly, for more than 40 years. After being discharged from the Army, Mosier became an engineer and community volunteer.

Mosier and other parade honorees will be featured at the Parade's Sunday, Feb. 2 'Honorees Fundraiser Brunch' at Tivoli Terrace.
