Best Art Exhibitions of 2011 Included Four O.C. Events

Two of the local events run through Jan. 22, 2012. Not surprisingly, two of the 10 events from Orange County were in Laguna Beach.

The Orange County Register on Friday published as part of an end-of-the-year package the best area art exhibitions of 2011. The area covers a wide swath, extending from Los Angeles to San Diego. In total, there are four Orange County exhibitions that are included in the list by writer Richard Chang.

Two of the exhibitions took place in Laguna Beach. 

Drawing praise was an exhibition of "Rodin's Figures" at the Laguna College of Art and Design from July to September featuring 13 sculptures by the famed Auguste Rodin.

The other Laguna exhibition named in the list runs through Jan. 22, 2012, at the Laguna Art Museum titled It is described as an exhibition "that illuminates the amazing concentration of talent at UC Irvine starting in 1964."

Another of the selection that also runs through Jan. 22 is at the Orange County Museum of Art called "State of Mind: New California Art Circa 1970."
