Get Out: What To Do This Weekend

It's Thursday. Got your weekend plans?

Let Patch give you some creative ideas, and then get set to have a rockin' April Fools' Day weekend.

Where/When: 1183 S. Coast Hwy. Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Why go: Adults-only comedy night with Ed Steinfeld on April Fool's Day could be fun.
Price: Money for drinks and food, must be 21.

Where/When: 247 Broadway St. Open everyday, Noon-10 p.m.
Why go: Sweet delicious desserts that will satisfy your taste buds, and since it could be a hot one this weekend, a personal-sized, three-inch-around gelato Baby Cake might be just right for cooling down. What's a Baby Cake, you ask? How about little layered gelato cakes made with chocolate, vanilla or lemon cake and layered with a chocolate gelato and genache (French icing and whipped cream)?
Price: $5.50 each. Special orders with your choice of cake or gelato flavor need 48 hours notice.


Where/When: No Square Theater, Old Legion Hall, 384 Legion St. Sundays, April 3 & 10, 7 p.m.
Why go: Local British singer/songwriter Jason Feddy and local performance poet, actor and teacher John Gardiner, team up to create a play featuring 10 songs and 10 speeches from the Shakespeare canon.
Price: $20 tickets.

Where/When: 2222 Laguna Canyon Rd. Sunday, 5 p.m.
Why go: Two-hundred small canvases purchased by the college in advance and
contributed by LCAD artists of all levels who have joined together to benefit an important cause. The paintings, prints and works on paper, will be approximately 8 x 10 inches in size. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Japanese Disaster Relief Fund.
Price: Artwork is priced at $30-$70.


Where/When: 606 Laguna Canyon Rd. Performances throughout this weekend. Closes April 10.
Why go: Romantic comedy by Noel Coward for you to enjoy with someone special, or not-so-special. .
Price: $36-$65.
