Get Out: What to do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

Check out some cool events goin' down in Laguna Beach this Memorial Day weekend!


Where/When: Mozambique, 1740 Coast Hwy. Thurs., 7-10 p.m.
Why go: Take a break and relax with friends as you listen to DJ AVIJAH spin tunes whilst sipping on drinks at excellent prices.
Price: Free to attend.


Where/When: Laguna Beach Books at the Old Pottery Place, 1200 S. Coast Hwy. Thurs., 6 p.m.
Why go: Meet author Carol Wallace as she signs and discusses her recently released historic novel on the period in Van Gogh’s life where he met with a Dr. Gach in Auvers, France to help him with his mental health problems in May of 1890.
Price: Free.

LAGUNA BEACH HIGH DRAMA PRESENTS: A LIE OF THE MIND
Where/When: LBHS Artists Theatre, 987 Park Ave. May 27-28 and June 2-4, 7:30 p.m.; May 29 and June 4, 2:30 p.m.
Why go: Sit back and watch talented student actors take on this classic Sam Shepard drama that touches on issues of spousal abuse and other familial dysfunctions, but with a touch of comedic relief.
Price: $10 students; $15 adults.

TRANSITION LAGUNA'S EDIBLE GARDEN TOUR
Where/When: La Vida Laguna, 987 Glenneyre St. Sat., 9 a.m.-noon.
Why go: Hop on one of 50 bicycles available for pedaling through Oak Village, where you can tour nine homes that have produced delicious edible gardens. You might just get inspired enough to grow your own.
Price: $10 donation.

CALIFORNIA NATIVE PLANT AND WILDFLOWER HIKE
Where/When: Meet at Willow Canyon Staging Area (20101 Laguna Canyon Rd., just south of the El Toro Road intersection). Sat., 9 a.m.-noon.
Why go: Step into your sturdy shoes and go for a spring hike as you learn to identify native plants. Remember to bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and any medications you may require on this moderate, fast-paced, steep and rocky 3.5-mile hike for ages 12 and up.
Price: $3 for parking; $2 donation per person. Reservations are required. Call 949-923-2235.
