On December 3rd, The Laguna Concert Band received a $500 Grant award from the Laguna Beach Community Foundation at a ceremony hosted at the Laguna Hotel. The award, which will be used to support programs and operations, is a recognition by the Foundation of the community bands deep commitment to providing quality concerts in Laguna Beach. The 65 member concert bands home stage is at The Laguna Playhouse and performed “America the Tubaful”, a concert featuring the Chicago Symphony Principal Tubist, Gene Pokorny, and the Disney Voice Over actor, Bob Joles.
Music Director Ed Peterson and Band Ambassador Carol Reynolds accepted the award from Laura Tarbox, Chair, Board of Trustees LBCF.
Cathy Krinsky, LBCF Grants Committee Chair said during the award ceremony, “The Laguna Beach Community Foundation was founded and exists today as a symbol of our deep love for Laguna Beach and our desire to make a difference in the quality of life in Laguna Beach.” Laura Tarbox, LBCF Chair, continued, “These awards and the Laguna Beach Community Foundation’s other grant distributions during the year represent our commitment to Laguna’s nonprofits and residents. Today’s grants were made possible by the generosity of donors W. L. Lyons Brown, III, Donnie Crevier, Susie and Jim Jaqua, John L. Campbell Insurance Agency, Newport Beach Book Club in memory of Sue Gilbert, and our grant partner Massen Greene Foundation which provided funding for seven environment-related grant awards.”
