'New Space' is the Place: LCAD Debuts New Forest Avenue Gallery

Submitted by Laguna College of Art and Design:

NEW SPACE, the first of 10 scheduled exhibitions over the next 10 months at LCAD on Forest, is an exhibition of meticulously detailed illustrations by award-winning illustrator, designer and LCAD faculty member, Luc Desmarchelier; original paintings by astronomical illustrator, fellow and founding member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), Don Dixon; and space-inspired collages by visual artist Janice Lowry.

Curated by LCAD Gallery Director, Andrea Harris-McGee, NEW SPACE is meant to inspire and embody the awe, wonder, dreams, adventure, ambition and quest for discovery that a gaze into the night sky has long aroused in humankind.  Located at 225 Forest Avenue—and also known as ONE Laguna—the state-of-the-art collaborative space is the brainchild of Firebrand Media LLC Chairman, Allan Simon.

Simon and LCAD’s President, Jonathan Burke, conceived of the mutually beneficial partnership in which LCAD will occupy the ground level of the ONE Laguna building. LCAD on Forest will feature curated exhibitions, special programming and happenings.

On the building’s upper level, Simon and the ONE Laguna and Firebrand Media LLC staff are in the process of developing a central, cutting edge, technology-based e-commerce portal that will connect Laguna Beach businesses, recreational activities and more through interactive and educational touchscreens and other computer-generated technologies.

ONE Laguna will launch late in 2013 or early in 2014. Come and explore:
