Artists and artisans at the Sawdust art festival trotted out their specialties Friday for the opening of one of the trifecta of Laguna Beach's big summer art fests.

The 47th annual Sawdust Art & Craft Festival, part of the trifecta of Laguna Beach's big summer art shows, kicked off Friday with music and demonstrations by artisans.

Painters, jewelers, sculptors and glassblowers hocked their wares in the picturesque festival grounds on Laguna Canyon Road, even as the fest's counterpart Art-A-Fair kicked off down the street.

The Sawdust festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through Sept. 1. Admission is $7.75 for adults, $6.25 for seniors, $3.25 for children and free for kids under five. For $15, you can get a summer season pass.

The Sawdust grounds are at 935 Laguna Canyon Road.
