Watch Huell Howser's Laguna Beach Episode Here

The longtime California TV icon, who died Sunday, spent a day in Laguna Beach in 2008.

Huell Howser, the outgoing, ever-cheerful California TV icon who died Sunday, paid a visit to Laguna Beach in 2008 and recorded an entire hour-long episode of his California's Gold PBS series here.

That episode, along with just about every segment Howser produced for California's Gold and his other programs, has been preserved as part of the Huell Howser Archive at Orange's Chapman University.

Howser retired from producing his shows this past November, at which point it was announced that Chapman would become the permanent caretaker of his video legacy.

In the Laguna Beach segment, Howser visited the Orange Inn, the Laguna Art Museum, the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, the Nix Nature Center and Las Brisas, and spent some time with our lifeguards and explored our tidepools.

What an educational, inspirational man he was. I wished I could have met him! Thank you Patch for the wonderful video, I smiled and laughed and also appreciated the education that Huell made so fun. A delightful man, with an obvious appreciation for life, past and present. I say a thankful prayer for Mr. Howser. He was a very endearing host. He definitely was a natural. R.I.P. Huell and thank you for sharing your love of life with the rest of us.

For those rude Pro. Photographers that think they own the beach and demand you get out of their shotRead More you can call Jim Barris 464-6669 or the non emergency (911) (949) 497-0701. I called the city and found this out after a photographer kicked my dog for being in "his" shot.
