Whiz Kid: Elliott Glass
The Laguna Beach High sophomore garnishes awards and keeps the beat during recent Battle of the Bands contest.

Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Musician and drummer for Defamation, the winning band in the annual Teens Have Talent Battle of the Bands contest, held last weekend in San Juan Capistrano.
Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: "Practice. Everyone should practice. I practice three hours a day. I have four academic classes and four musical classes."
Glass has been drumming with Defamation, a hard rock band consisting of three other Laguna Beach High School students (Blake Allard, Max Monahan and Cameron Agnew) for six months. The members will go into the studio this weekend to record their winning Battle of the Bands song "Save Your Breath," which they composed together. Glass says he will spend his quarter of the $500 winning prize money at a music store on drumsticks and drum head turners. Glass was born and raised in Laguna Beach, and hopes to one day turn professional as a session drummer.
