JoAnne Artman Gallery is thrilled to welcome America Martin for her annual solo exhibition!

*Read what Patch art critic Ryan Wirick had to say about America Martin's 2011 JoAnne Artman Gallery show by clicking here.

When thinking about what to name her next show, one word came readily to mind: “applesauce." Although it seemed an odd choice, whenever you give America any compliment praising either her personally or her work, she always replies “applesauce" in an “ah-shucks" kind of way.

That is America: humble, gracious and so appreciative of all that surrounds her. This is so clearly evident in her work...pure joy...the color...the lines…the expressions...the eyes to her subjects' souls.

"I am inspired by bigger...boldness...dignity...I dream of colors," she explains.

America Martin is a Colombian-American fine artist based in Los Angeles. She is a traveler between mediums, insouciant in the conquest of new terrain.

Martin’s favorite landscape is that of the human form. Her work is distinguished by a command of line and color, making playful reference to both classic and indigenous art forms.

Her work will inspire, provoke, engage and mesmerize.
