Get Out: What to do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

Lots of live music, art and skimboard action in Laguna Beach this weekend.

KELLY FITZGERALD
Where/When: The Sawdust Festival grounds, 935 Laguna Canyon Rd. Friday, 5:30-9:45 p.m.
Why go: Relax and listen to singer/songwriter Kelly Fitzgerald's original blend of folk, blues and rock songs before or after you visit with artist in their booths at the Sawdust Festival.
Price: $7.75 adults, $6.25 seniors (65+), $3.25 children (6-12), free (children 5 and under).

'80S NIGHT WITH DJ LUCKY LOU
Where/When, 6-8 p.m.
Why go: Have a thriller of a flashback while listening to all-'80s music spun by DJ Lucky Lou on the festival green at the festival.
Price: $7 adults, $4 seniors, free for Laguna Beach residents and military personnel.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF SKIMBOARDING
Where/When: , 31131 S. Coast Hwy. Sat.-Sun., 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Awards given to winners on the beach Sunday afternoon.
Why go: Catch the action as over 130 skimboarders from around the world meet here to show off their awesome skills.
Price: Free, but parking in the lot isn't.

OPENING OF THE SHAKESPEARE SERIES ART EXHIBIT 
Where/When: third floor gallery, 260 Ocean Ave. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why go: Catch a free performance  of the musical rendition of Shakespeare’s Fool by Laguna Beach singer/guitarist Jason Feddy and vocalist Ava Burton at the opening of this exhibit, which pays tribute to the late local artist David Rosen, the first non-traditional painter to be allowed to exhibit at the Festival of Arts. You can also pig out on the wine and cheese. Runs through Sept. 15.
Price: Free.

FREE CONCERT: CUBENSIS
Where/When: , 798 Bluebird Canyon Dr. Sunday, 5-7 p.m.
Why go: Grateful Dead tribute band Cubensis have been gigging around SoCal for almost 25 years, and at the rate they're going, they'll be around longer than the Dead were. They kick off Bluebird Park's annual summer concert series.
Price: Free—all you need is your picnic basket, chair or blanket.
