Get Out: What to do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

It's coming down to the last weekends for the art festivals, so check out some events before summer is over.

PAUL MCINTIRE AT ART-A-FAIR
Where/When: Art-A-Fair, 777 Laguna Canyon Rd. Thursday, 4-7 p.m.
Why go: Because you may need to reserve your spot to hear the dynamic eclectic violinist Paul McIntire. Check out a sample of his style by clicking this link here.
Price: $7 gets you a season pass to the festival.

LAGUNA BEACH HIGH FUNDRAISER FOR THE CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM
Where/When: track, 625 Park Ave. Friday (contact coach Steve Lalim at 949-650-4842 or e-mail him at slalim@lbusd.org for times and information).
Why go: Runners need to raise money for travel expenses to attend the Ioloni Invitational Track Meet on Sept. 17 on Oahu, Hawaii by holding a jog-a-thon.
Price: Donate and help the cross-country team make the meet.

PONCHO SANCHEZ AT THE FESTIVAL OF ARTS
Where/When: The Festival of Arts grounds, 650 Laguna Canyon Rd. Saturday, 1-3 p.m.
Why go: This is the last evening for Jazz on the Green, and Poncho Sanchez is an iconic Latin jazz percussionist. Go, and thank us later.
Price: $15 in addition to the $7 Festival of Arts admission.

COMICS ARTISTS GEORGE GLADIR AND BATON LASH
Where/When: , 350 Broadway Ave. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why go: Rare two-day appearances by Archie Comics artists George Gladir and Batton Lash. Gladir has been working on Archie since 1959, while Lash worked with Archie in several formats including Archie versus Punisher. They'll meet their fans and sign autographs.
Price: Free.


Where/When: in front of the Montage, 30801 S. Coast Hwy. Sunday, 9 a.m.
Why go: Sea lions Bing, Apricot and Cobalt, nursed back to health by the good people at the , will be returned to their rent-controlled apartment beneath the sea. Come and join the chorus of "Awwww!"
Price: Free.
