Benefit Scheduled Monday Evening for Dizz's As Is Owner Marc Pitz

Funds raised from the events at Watermarc and the Saloon will go to Pitz, who is undergoing a bout with cancer.

Submitted by Katy Moss:

A benefit has been scheduled for Marc Pitz, one of the owners of Dizz's As Is restaurant in Laguna Beach, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year.

The benefit is set for this coming Monday, March 11, from 5-9 p.m. at two different locations, the Saloon and the Watermarc.

We are inviting people to join us at both locations to raise money for Marc. I have talked a few times with Marcel (his father) and Marcel is 100% behind our event.

Food will be tray passed all night. Marc from Watermarc will be the main supplier of the food, but there will be four or five other restaurants that want to help by bringing items from their locations as well. Along with food being served, each person will receive two drink tickets that can be used at either the Saloon or Watermarc.

There will be live entertainment set up at Watermarc. The entrance fee is $100. A wrist band will be placed with guests as they enter. The Saloon and Watermarc Restaurant have worked things out with purveyors so that there will be no cost to the charity. In other words, every nickel raised will go to Marc with the exception of paying for the band and giving a little something to the servers who have volunteered their time.

If there are people that would like to participate but are unable to afford the $100 entry, they are encouraged to come in and take advantage of the silent auction by bidding on items or by buying opportunity drawing tickets.

The list of Silent Auction items (so far)

  • A Carlos Santana signed Paul Reed Smith guitar (his signature is relatively rare)
  • Two nights at The Beverly Hills Montage
  • A weekend at Hotel Laguna
  • One night at Casa del Camino including dinner for two and drinks on the Rooftop Bar
  • An Original Phil Interlandi painting of Dizz’s As Is
  • The Lumberyard (dinner for six and wine)
  • An original Phil Interlandi full page color Playboy cartoon
  • Lakers tickets in a private suite (4)

This is a list of items contributed as of today (Thursday), though there could be more to come.

In addition to the silent auction, there will also be a raffle. Items for the raffle include: A gift certificate from Danny Miller, One night at The Montage Laguna Beach, gift certificates from  370 Common Table, Asada, Starfish, Tabu, Chris Keller’s locations (Kya, Marine Room, Big Fish, and The Rooftop), Mozambique, and Rumari, One night at The Surf and Sand, Designer sunglasses from i2i optometry, and magnums of a number of different wines. New items are coming in all the time so this list will certainly grow.

Tickets for the raffle will sell for $25 per ticket, or five for $100, and will go on sale at The Saloon on Friday, March 8.

All of the items for both the silent auction and raffle were donated, and therefore all dollars earned will go directly to Marc Pitz.
