No, That's Not a Marijuana Farm Growing In Laguna Canyon ...

Instead, Erik Cutter's Alegria Fresh is proving that "hydroponic" isn't a dirty word.

Hydroponics—the art of growing plants without the use of soil—has practically become synonymous in recent years with medical marijuana dispensaries. But the Register's Claudia Koerner shines a light with this story on Alegria Fresh, a recently opened farm tucked into a quarter-acre space in Laguna Canyon that uses the hydroponic method to grow decidedly healthier options than pot: try lettuce, chiles, basil, parsley, tomatoes, squash, zucchini and much more.

Owner Erik Cutter sells subscriptions that will get you home-delivered, fresh-grown goodness for $20 a week, and business seems to be taking off. Also interesting is his vertical grow method—150 7-foot-tall towers that allows Cutter to cram 8,000 plants into a wee small area.

Hmmm ... that sounds almost like a late-night infomercial we used to see all the time ...
