Olympian to Lead Patriots Day Parade

Olympian Janet Evans, a four-time Olympic gold medal swimmer, has been named grand marshal of the 48th annual Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade, parade organizers announced.

Evans will lead the parade, themed "Home of the Free Because of the Brave," on March 1, 2014. Evans, who resides in Laguna Beach, was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 2004. Evans and other parade honorees will be featured at the parade's Honorees Fundraiser Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 2.

The Patriots Day Parade is supported by the Honorees Brunch, as well as parade program ads and donations.

The program ad deadline is Jan. 6 and the entry deadline is Jan. 10.
