Patch Flood Coverage Recap [UPDATED]

The story so far in words, photos and video.

At 3:10 a.m. Wednesday morning, Laguna Beach Patch placed a call to the night desk at the Laguna Beach Police Department. We wanted to know if the city was sustaining any damage from the torrential downpour hitting it at the time. The officer who answered the phone told us that downtown was "completely underwater" before abruptly ending the call to help handle the dire situation. We then went online to view the 24-hour live webcam on top of the Hotel Laguna that's pointed at the intersection of Coast Highway and Ocean–and were amazed to see not the roadway, but something that could have been called Coast Highway Lake.
