Revamped Laguna Art Museum Shop Jumps On Black Friday Bandwagon

Local artists aplenty have items on sale in the museum store.

Submitted story by the Laguna Art Museum:

Under the direction of Executive Director Malcolm Warner and new volunteer store manager Michele Monda, Laguna Art Museum has revamped its store just in time for the holidays.

The goal of the new store, which officially re-opened on November 3, is to sell affordable, portable, and local giftware that reflects the nature of Laguna Beach, a community celebrated for its art and artists.

The store offerings will include branded museum merchandise, some custom-designed by artists; art and design items from Laguna Beach artists, selected with an emphasis on unusual and one-of-a-kind  pieces not to be found in other stores; museum publications; publications and merchandise related to current exhibitions; and books on California art generally.

The goal is for the store to be a year-round destination for local people in search of unusual gifts as well as a source for out-of-town visitors who wish to take away a memento of their experience at Laguna Art Museum.

Items and local artists now featured in the store include jewelry by Ray Caruso, Karen Feuer-Schwager, Adam Kaplan, Hodel McRae, Kirk Milette, Casey Parlette, and The Wayward Pearl; glass and ceramics by John Barber, Jesse Bartels, Robert Jones, James Lashley, Dawn Mariko Spurlock & Scot Herr, Jason & Nicole McQuaid, Sian Poeschl, and Maggie Spencer; totes and bags by Leanne Belyn, Jeremy Fish, Rosalie Marsh-Boinus, and Macha Suzuki; mobiles by Sara Kirk; and scarves by Erica and Olivia Batchelder.

In addition, the store features a selection of original prints and photographs curated by the museum's Executive Director Dr. Malcolm Warner. Featured artists include Timothy J. Clark, Xun Chi, Luc Desmarchelier, Michelle Farro, Jacques Garnier, Mark Garry, Dirk Hagner, Jeff Peters, and Tim Van Ginkle. The prints are available framed and unframed.

November 23-25, the museum is offering a 10% discount in the store on all purchases. Museum members receive 20% off. People can avoid long lines and crowded stores during Black Friday weekend and enjoy the serenity of the museum and its new store.

The store is open Friday through Tuesday, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Thursday 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. The store is closed Wednesday and major holidays.
