I noted Laguna Beach resident Galal Kernaham had a very timely and insightful letter in the July 8th issue of the Coastline Pilot about tsunami awareness. Our city leaders need to get past the planning stage and get “boots on the ground.” Most areas that have had a disaster find a great resource in their faith communities and I hope our church leaders are included in our planning. Our protection will need to include more than human planning. Most of us who experienced the fire that nearly destroyed Laguna Beach know the importance and the protection of the Divine. In Psalm 23, we find David praying for the safety of his sheep, and we should do no less.
