Blue Water Green Earth and Laguna’s KX 93.5 Present:

The “Music Matters” All-Star Benefit Concert

By: Jon Shakill

On Friday, May 31st rock stars and local musicians alike will join forces to raise awareness and funds for the Blue Water Green Earth nonprofit organization as well as our local nonprofit radio station, KX 93.5.

Taking place from 5pm-10pm at The Cliff Restaurant’s breathtaking beachside terrace venue, guests will have the opportunity to support a great cause while enjoying great music with an amazing view.

From 10pm-12 midnight there will be an after-party acoustic jam session in the Cliff’s intimate upstairs fireside setting.

The two headlining acts include notable artists such as Paul Black from the LA Guns performing with his current band Sonic Boom, as well as the all-star cover band Bitch, featuring Rami Jaffee (Wallflowers, Foo Fighters), Christopher Thorn (Blind Melon, AWOL Nation), Brad Smith (Blind Melon), Brendan Buckley (Shakira), Jessy Greene (Pink, Foo Fighters), Christopher Laurence (Mike Ness) and Jonny Kaplan (Jonny Kaplan and the Lazy Stars), plus special guests. Trevor Green, Jason Feddy, and Thorcraft Cobra will open up the show.

A silent auction showcasing the many brilliant artists in Laguna Beach will run concurrently with the event, allowing guests to pick up great original art – and potentially at a discount. Anyone interested in donating artwork can do so by dropping off pieces at the Mail Stop on Cress and Glenneyre, or by calling 949-573-8624.

Proceeds raised from the star studded evening go in part to benefit the “Music Matters” campaign started by local music promoter and founder of Blue Water Green Earth, Rick Conkey. Rick’s vision is to show how the power of music to bring people together can directly benefit the community.

This past Earth Day for example, Rick organized a city wide trash clean-up by offering half-off on tickets to a local performance, and with great success. Locals came together to help clean the environment, in part because of the power of music.

General Admission tickets to the May 31st event are only $25, while for $60 guests will enjoy preferred seating and two drink tickets. For $100 guests will get the platinum VIP experience, which includes two drinks, a private bar and separate VIP area and hors d'oeuvres.

Tickets are available through Blue Water Green Earth, KX 93.5, The Cliff Restaurant, the Mail Stop, 1278 Glenneyre St. on the corner of Cress and Glenneyre, or by calling 949-573-8624, or email Tickets@BlueWaterGreenEarth.org.

This high quality showcase promises to be one of Laguna’s best music events of the year. Watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean as musical stars shine a light on helping the environment and local community. It is recommended that guests get tickets early, as the event will sell-out.

According to Rick, “The Music Matters campaign was created to shine a light on our area’s most talented artists and their contributions, drive acknowledgment to the musical aspect of Laguna’s world renowned arts scene and ultimately lead to the creation of an annual music festival.”

The proposed annual music festival would task all local nonprofit organizations with selling tickets in order to benefit from the proceeds. For more on Blue Water Green Earth visit BlueWaterGreenEarth.org.

A special thanks to Andrew Turula, General Manager of The Cliff Restaurant, the Blue Water Green Earth nonprofit, Laguna’s KX 93.5 and local promoters Tony Cox, Lynn Faye, and Rick Conkey.
