And more in the Laguna Beach City Manager's weekly update.

Laguna Beach City Manager John's Pietig's weekly update:

Firefighters and Lifeguards Honored - Six members of the Fire Department and two members of the Marine Safety Department are being honored by the County of Orange Health Care Agency for their successful save of a resident that collapsed while working out at the high school.  Lifeguards Scott Diederich and Casey Parlette were with the resident when he collapsed and immediately initiated CPR until the Fire Department arrived.  Members of the Fire Department, which included Thomas Padden, Scott Hammond, Patrick Cary, Chris Kent, Robert Abijay, and Jeff White, provided Advanced Life Support to the resident and transported him to Mission Hospital Mission Viejo.  The resident survived this near fatal event thanks to the care provided by Firefighters and Lifeguards.

Wood Fiber Installed at Parks - In preparation for increased summertime playground use, 150 cubic yards of new engineered wood fiber has been installed at Bluebird Park, Lang Park and Village Green Park. This material provides for accessibility and safety.

Lumber Yard Parking Lot Construction Activity - Next week contractors will move into the parking lot to conduct underground utility location work.  In particular, a discovery excavation will be performed to verify the exact location of the North Coast Interceptor sewer transmission main.  Excavation work will begin on Wednesday the 22nd and repaving completed by Tuesday, May 28.  Parking nearest the channel will be closed during that period while the other half of the parking lot will remain open.  The Farmer’s Market will not be affected.
