Laguna Beach County Water District SmartScape Info/Expo 2013

The Laguna Beach County Water District is hosting its 4th annual SmartScape Info/Expo on September 21-22. The free event highlights and promotes the benefits of using California friendly plants and efficient irrigation techniques in landscapes.

The two-day event features inspiring displays, real gardens, hands-on demonstrations, a California Friendly plant sale, and face-to-face consultations with top experts. “Visitors will find everything they need to create beautiful landscapes with less thirsty plants and the most advanced irrigation materials and techniques on the market,” says Renae Hinchey, water district general manager. “All in a valuable time-saving and exciting ‘one-stop’ destination.”

Things you won’t want to miss at this year’s SmartScape Info/Expo

  • Sign up for FREE irrigation SmartTimer controllers and rotating nozzles
  • Get your hands dirty with hands-on demonstrations on container gardening, sprinkler head retrofitting, rainwater harvesting, container gardening, and wildlife habitat gardening
  • Visit with businesses, independent contractors, nonprofits, and water district staff to share ideas and learn about the newest in waterwise gardening and landscaping equipment and services.
  • Relax with a casual walk through the SmartScape garden—courtesy of Saddleback College Horticultural Department who will be on-hand to offer insight, plant identification, and tips to gardeners and amateur landscapers of all levels.
  • Discuss innovative gardening techniques with experts from the Master Gardeners.
  • Purchase California Friendly plants, rain barrels, and irrigation equipment.
  • Learn to identify your soil type and how to improve its water holding capacity.
The SmartScape Info/Expo is open to the public Saturday, September 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the District’s headquarters located at 306 Third Street, downtown Laguna Beach.
