SOCCGS 2013 Family History Seminar

The Southern Orange County California Genealogical Society (SOCCGS) is
hosting their annual Family History Seminar on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from
9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Saddleback Room of the Mission Viejo City
Hall.  This year’s speaker is the renown Lloyd
Dewitt Bockstruck
and the theme will be “Settlers, Soldiers, & Overcoming
Brick Walls.” Winner of numerous prestigious awards, Mr. Bockstruck is a very
entertaining presenter who will speak on the subjects of “The Name of the Game:
Onomatology and the Genealogist”, “The Scots and the Scots Irish”, “Researching
your Ancestors from 1775 to 1820”, and “Researching Deeds and Wills”.

Mr. Bockstruck was with the Dallas Public Library from 1973 to 2009, 30
years of that time as Supervisor of the Genealogy Section.  As an author, in addition to his many books,
Mr. Bockstruck was a popular weekly columnist with The Dallas Morning News and
is a contributing writer to the Eastman Online Genealogy Newsletter.  Active in numerous hereditary organizations,
he has been the Librarian General of the National Society Sons of the American
Revolution and the Registrar of both the Order of Americans of Armorial
Ancestry and the Order of Founders and Patriots of America and is widely
recognized as one of our leading authorities on the genealogical sources of the
American Revolution.  His own ancestry
has roots in Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, the
Carolinas, and up the East Coast through Maryland to New England in the “new
world” and in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Germany in the “old
country”.

In addition to Mr. Bockstruck, the Society will
have a used book sale, a jewelry table with mostly vintage costume jewelry, a
few authors will be on hand to autograph their books, various genealogical related
items and door prizes.  Cost is $25 at
the door with no lunch available (there are a few restaurants available in the
area) or you can pre-register by October 16th for $20 and a box lunch is
available for $9.  A registration form is
available by clicking here.
