Village Laguna's Villagers of the Year


Village Laguna will honor the Rev. Colin Henderson and former council member, Verna Rollinger, at its Villaer of the Year celebration on 'saturday, Octonber 5, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bluebird Canyon garden of Bill and Lynda Sharp.  Dinner, wine and live music will be provided!
Henderson, a resident since '85, previously served as an Anglican priest in England. Here, he established what has become the Friendship Shelter, a temporary shelter with services for homeless people that has benefited more than 6,000 people during the last twenty years.
Rollinger, the town's elected city clerk for more than three decades, created an atmosphere of accessibility and openness during her tenure.  She was a founding member of the Friendship Shelter. On the City Council, she played a key role in representing neighborhood-compatible developmemt and advocataing for park protection, a marine reserve, water quality standards and preservation of significant trees.
