Mozambique Hosts Royal Dinner

On Monday, Aug. 19, Ivan Spiers hosted a Royal Dinner at his Laguna Beach restaurant, Mozambique, for His Highness Shiek Khalid Bin Jabor Al-Thani, of the Royal Family of Qatar, accompanied by his wife and daughter.

Dignitaries included Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and wife Ronda; Assemblyman Donald Wagner and wife Megan, Dr. Douglas Harrington, Estrella Harrington, Dr. Najib Khoury, Rose Hancock, and Gerald Neugschwandtner of Austria.

Shiek Al-Thani’s visit to the US focused, in part, on the preparation of an exclusive World Heart Day Gala which will be held in Orange County on September 28th to raise awareness of heart disease worldwide, which remains the #1 killer in many countries, including the U.S.  The World Heart Day James Bond-themed event is focused on Targeting Heart Disease and will highlight which actions can be taken to reduce the risk of heart disease with a core message of “LEARN. DETECT. PREVENT.” The mission of World Heart Day will be debriefed by Sheik Al Thani in partnership with the GUARDaHEART Foundation.

Corporate Sponsor Aviir will also be present prestigious honors at the event, the International Heart Award, The American Heart Award and the American Hero Award. Proceeds from the event go to providing education, detection, and prevention resources for GUARDaHEART’s global programs, including Veterans and low-income families.
