Day 1: Quick Draw Paint Out - Success!

The week-long 15th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational started with a "Quick Draw" Paint Out at Treasure Island Park on Sunday October 13th.  The public was invited to watch as works of art were created by the 40 participating invitational artists.  During the two hour painting event, artists painted in the park and on the sand, creating mini masterpieces in the limited time allowed.  After the paint out the public and artists rode the complimentary Laguna Trollies back to the Aliso Creek Inn.  When the crowd arrived they were greeted by local radio station KX 93.5 which was broadcasting live.  Art enthusiasts were also offered a sampling of LPAPA's custom label "Artists Blend" organic coffee by Blended Giving.  A portion of each bag of coffee sold is donated to LPAPA.  During the hour long "Meet and Greet" with the artists, attendees snacked on a delicious buffet provided by Nirvana Grille.  A silent auction followed on the patio for the newly painted works of art.  More than 350 people bid on the 40 pieces of art.  Sales of the art was heated at times with the silent auction turning into a live auction!  All proceeds benefit the participating artists and non-profit Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. www.lagunapleinair.org
