What's the Best Burger in Laguna Beach? We Need to Know!

Tell us: Where do you go in Laguna Beach when you want to stick some meat in your mouth?

Laguna Beach Patch is banking that our readers have their favorite burgers in this city, and we want to find them.

Whether slathered in bleu cheese or special sauce, whether flanked by sesame seed buns or sourdough, whether the lettuce is leafy or chopped, whether shouldering bacon or mushrooms or both, there are a million combinations.

So we'll be designating a "Best Burger in Town" award to one establishment. The champ could be all-beef, or an ahi tuna burger. Every place, and every burger, is unique.

The rule is that it has to come from a Laguna Beach establishment—in other words, In-N-Out, Mickey D's, Five Guys, and all those burger joints outside the city limits don't count. Neither do Umami Burger and BurgerFi, because, as much as we want to taste their succulent offerings, it's kinda hard when they're not open yet.

Once we get nominations—and you'll nominate them by telling us what your fave burger place is in the "Comments" box below—we'll have a poll for readers to vote for the best burger and also a forum to debate the issue because, really, that's going to be just as fun.

The presidential candidates can talk about health care; we want to talk about how to clog our arteries. Or, if you're into low-fat, tell us about your favorite veggie burger.

The best burger. Bring it on.

And bring an order of fries with it.

Here are some possible (but certainly not the only) choices:

Husky Boy Burgers

Johnny Rockets

Ruby's Diner

Hennessey's Tavern

Jack In the Box

K'ya Bistro & Bar

The Greeters Corner Restaurant

Nominate your favorite before Friday at 9 a.m. We'll follow up with a poll next week to pick the winner.

So again ... tell us in the "Comments" box below what your favorite burger spot in Laguna Beach is. Uuuuuuurp!

Have you seen Watermarc's Burger menu? There's one with Duck confit, Brie cheese & red onion marmalade. One with Burrata Mozzarella, and even one done "Oscar Style" with lump crab & asparagus. I think they even offer them at 1/2 price during happy hour which runs 7-days a week. hands down the best burger in Laguna.

Well, it'd certainly be interesting if a burger place that hasn't actually opened up yet won ...

Believe it or not, The Cottage has a pretty darn good burger. It's flame broiled, as is the bun, and comes with a great side of seasoned wedged fries. The Cottage's burger is my favorite in town. My second favorite burger in Laguna Beach - and this one comes in a VERY close second - is the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger at Hennessey's Tavern. Now before you go "Yuck," hear me out... it's a sauce... the Blue cheese is melted down and crumbles of bacon are added to the mix. It tastes nothing like you think it would... absolutely delightful, every bite! I also like the stuffed burger at Watermarc but you have to be extra careful eating that one on account of it squirting out hot juice when first bite into it (that puppy's sealed tight). And the "Husky Burger" at Husky Boy is great if you swap out the traditional beef patty for Buffalo, but it's grilled, not flame broiled.

Get your butts over to Sapphire Pantry (the small shop next to Sapphire, takeout only). For $10, you get a 1/2 lb. Kobe Beef Havarti Cheeseburger, with Caramelized Onion, Wild Arugula, Tomato, Dijonnaise, and Garlic Fries. When I say garlic fries, I mean fries with real garlic and not garlic salt. I've had most of the burgers already mentioned here, and this one is the best. The same burger costs a few bucks more inside the restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

No competition whatsoever. The best burger in town is decidedly the grass-fed beef burger at Maro Wood Grill. "Eight Ounces Grass Fed Ground Beef, Artisan Potato Bun, Nueske’s Bacon, Aged White Cheddar, Little Gem Lettuce, Rosso Bruno Tomatoes, House Pickled Onions, House Made Aioli". It's to die for.

I would have to say watermarc by far. The burger is absolutely scrumptious.
