Wednesday Morning Car Accident Injures Two at Glenneyre and Mountain

An SUV was apparently struck by a BMW.

Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a two-car accident at the corner of Mountain Rd. and Glenneyre St.

Though it's not clear who or what caused the 8:22 a.m. crash, eyewitnesses have reported that the driver of a white BMW allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and ran head-on into a black SUV, which then rolled over.

The trapped driver of the SUV had to be cut out of the vehicle by crew members of the Laguna Beach Fire Department, who arrived on the scene quickly after the incident.

“The well-executed extrication and swift transport of the trapped victim within 16 minutes of the first arriving unit on-scene is a shining example of the proficiency and professionalism of our firefighters,” LBFD Incident Commander Dan Stefano said in a statement.

The driver was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with serious injuries. The BMW driver was treated for minor injuries, according to police.
