Coast Highway Collision Injures Female Pedestrian

A 56-year-old woman struck by a SUV as she walked across Coast Highway Monday was not seriously injured, but the accident backed up traffic on the coastal route.

About 1:10 p.m., police were called about the collision on Coast Highway at Cress Street. The woman, who lives in Medford, Oregon, was walking in a crosswalk toward the east side of the street when the driver of a Lexus RX350 turning left onto Coast from Cress struck her in a slow-speed collision, said Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Louise Callus.

The driver, a 59-year-old Laguna Beach man, apparently did not see her while turning. The woman complained of pain in her left hip and leg and was taken to Mission Hospital, Callus said.
