Firefighters Are Ready to Take Your Toys

Laguna Beach Fire Department's Spark of Love Toy Drive has bins at the city's four stations. The campaign is part of the countywide effort that collects and distributes about 300,000 toys a year.

The Laguna Beach Fire Department's annual Spark of Love Toy Drive is in full swing, with the department's four stations serving as drop-off sites for new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment that will go to needy children, from toddlers to teens.

The campaign, which runs through Dec. 24, is part of the Orange County Toy Collaborative, which collects and distributes about 300,000 toys annually. Fire department stations throughout the county serve as drop-off sites.

Laguna Beach Fire Capt. Thomas Padden, coordinator of the department for Spark of Love Toy Drive, notes that “although there are other worthwhile toy drives, the Spark of Love is the only one created and operated by firefighters.”
