Injured Hiker Rescued from Crystal Cove

Newport Beach firefighters rescue an injured man who was hiking Tuesday evening at Crystal Cove State Park.

An injured hiker was rescued by firefighters Tuesday night from an area of Crystal Cove State Park, a fire captain reported.

Newport Beach and Laguna Beach firefighters responded to the area of Crystal Cove State Park and the Laguna Beach Wilderness area around 6:15 p.m. Newport Beach Fire Capt. Glenn White said firefighters got to the injured man and took him to the Ridge Park entrance gate in Newport Coast.

The hiker was treated for a shoulder injury and taken to a local hospital.

  • Remember where you entered the State Park 
  • Remember what direction you were heading
  • Know the name of the last trail you were on
  • Check the maps at the entrances to the park and have a plan
  • Stay hydrated and never ride and hike alone
