Man Arrested After Pushing Woman Down Stairs

A man was arrested Sunday night after he allgedly pushed a 55-year-old woman down a staircase.

Laguna Beach police arrested Rudy James McEntire, 34, of Boulder, Colorado following the incident, which occurred at a residence in the 300 block of Mermaid Street.

Officers responded after receiving reports from two callers that a woman was pushed. One of the callers turned out to be McEntire.

The woman suffered severe fractures to her face and arm, alog with head injuries and facial lacerations, according to a release from the Laguna Beach Police Department. She was transported to Mission Hospital Trauma Center in Mission Viejo for treatment. She's expected to survive.

Witnesses told officers that the woman was initially upset at McEntire because he was allegedly "hitting on" the victim's sister. Apparently her sister's boyfriend had recently passed away.

At some point during the argument, the victim kicked McEntire in the groin, and he reacted by pushing her backwards down the stairs.

McEntire was arrested for felony battery. He posted $25,000 bail and was released with a future court date pending.
