One Killed in PCH Crash, Several Injured

North Coast Highway remains closed in both directions, according to police.

One person was killed today, and five others were injured, when five cars crashed on Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, police reported.

Police responded to the report of a head-on collision about 1:34 p.m. in the area of North Coast Highway and Irvine Cove Drive. Five cars were involved in the deadly crash, police said, which has closed down North Coast Highway in both directions for an "indefinite amount of time.

As of 5:30 p.m., the crash was still under investigation.

"The deceased person is still inside one of the cars and we will have the coroner respond to remove the body in a little while," Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz said.

Five people were transported to local hospitals.
