Van Hits Fire Hydrant and Traffic Light Pole on Coast Highway

The single-vehicle accident involved a white van, which took out a fire hydrant and crashed into a traffic light pole. The driver of the van, who could not be identified, experienced a reaction to low blood sugar, which contributed to the accident, according to a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol. He was transported to a hospital.
