Elizabeth Pearson Named City's New Mayor

Councilman Bob Whalen is voted in as the new mayor pro tem.

Laguna Beach has a new mayor for the next year.

At its Tuesday night meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Elizabeth Pearson was unanimously voted into the mayor's position for 2014-2015. Immediately following the vote, Pearson moved into the mayor's seat and thanked Kelly Boyd, who was the city's mayor for the last year, for his commitment and service to Laguna Beach.

"He has been an exemplary mayor and has tried through a very tough year to do everything in his power to be at every meeting, every event and cut every ribbon," Pearson said. "There were nights I know when he was having a tough time up here and it really touched all of our hearts to see his commitment to his role as mayor of Laguna Beach."
